The ANZ Championship have formally signed a three-year sponsorship deal with GILBERT, as the new competition's Official Match Ball Supplier commencing 1st January 2008.

This is an exciting sponsorship deal for GILBERT who are already the Official Ball Supplier to the Australian Netball Team and more recently, the 2007 World Netball Championships which saw Australia's victory.

The sponsorship of the ANZ Championship will include 10 teams - five from Australia and five from New Zealand and 69 games fought across the Tasman. All games will be broadcasted live by Fox Sports and Sky Sports across an exciting 17 week competition beginning April 1, 2008.

"Securing the ANZ Championship is a fantastic result for GILBERT Netball. We have worked very hard to develop the best grip pattern available and we look forward to working with event organisers, teams and players" said Nick Gray, GILBERT Netball Director.

"To play an important role in their on-court triumphs is a prestigious honour for GILBERT who will work closely with the ANZ Championship on further promoting the game of Netball".

Brief company profile:

GILBERT has a long history dating back to 1823 when William Webb Ellis first picked up a ball and ran with it. GILBERT has been synonymous with Rugby ever since and in more recent times has been associated with Netball.

GILBERT applied the same ball engineering principles as Rugby development but adapted them to be Netball specific thus producing the best performing patented grip pattern available.

GILBERT is owned and operated globally by GRAY-NICOLLS SPORTS which is a 5th generation family business.
